Digital signal processorA digital signal processor (DSP) is a specialized microprocessor chip, with its architecture optimized for the operational needs of digital signal processing. DSPs are fabricated on MOS integrated circuit chips. They are widely used in audio signal processing, telecommunications, , radar, sonar and speech recognition systems, and in common consumer electronic devices such as mobile phones, disk drives and high-definition television (HDTV) products. The goal of a DSP is usually to measure, filter or compress continuous real-world analog signals.
128-bit computingGeneral home computing and gaming utility emerge at 8-bit (but not at 1-bit or 4-bit) word sizes, as 28=256 words become possible. Thus, early 8-bit CPUs (TRS 80, 6502, Intel 8088 introduced 1976-1981 by Commodore, Tandy Corporation, Apple and IBM) inaugurated the era of personal computing. Many 16-bit CPUs already existed in the mid-1970's. Over the next 30 years, the shift to 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit computing allowed, respectively, 216=65,536 unique words, 232=4,294,967,296 unique words and 264=18,446,744,073,709,551,615 unique words respectively, each step offering a meaningful advantage until 64 bits was reached.
Julia (programming language)Julia is a high-level, general-purpose dynamic programming language. Its features are well suited for numerical analysis and computational science. Distinctive aspects of Julia's design include a type system with parametric polymorphism in a dynamic programming language; with multiple dispatch as its core programming paradigm. Julia supports concurrent, (composable) parallel and distributed computing (with or without using MPI or the built-in corresponding to "OpenMP-style" threads), and direct calling of C and Fortran libraries without glue code.
Division by zeroIn mathematics, division by zero is division where the divisor (denominator) is zero. Such a division can be formally expressed as , where a is the dividend (numerator). In ordinary arithmetic, the expression has no meaning, as there is no number that, when multiplied by 0, gives a (assuming ); thus, division by zero is undefined (a type of singularity). Since any number multiplied by zero is zero, the expression is also undefined; when it is the form of a limit, it is an indeterminate form.
