Leaching from Palladium Nanoparticles in an Ionic Liquid Leads to the Formation of Ionic Monometallic Species

Résumé

Molecular dynamics simulations and DFT calculations suggest that leaching of palladium species from Pd nanoparticles in ionic liquids does not involve "naked" Pd(0) atoms or neutral ArPdX species formed by oxidative addition of arylhalides. Instead, the ionic liquid contributes largely to leaching of ionic PdX- or PdAr+ species.

Nanomaterial-based catalyst

Nanomaterial-based catalysts are usually heterogeneous catalysts broken up into metal nanoparticles in order to enhance the catalytic process. Metal nanoparticles have high surface area, which can increase catalytic activity. Nanoparticle catalysts can be easily separated and recycled. They are typically used under mild conditions to prevent decomposition of the nanoparticles. Functionalized metal nanoparticles are more stable toward solvents compared to non-functionalized metal nanoparticles.

Palladium

Le palladium est l'élément chimique de numéro atomique 46, de symbole Pd. Le palladium fait partie du groupe du platine. Le corps simple palladium, platinoïde léger et rare, est parfois considéré comme un métal noble, pour les applications des métaux précieux. Le palladium a été découvert, avec le rhodium, à partir du platine natif brut en 1803 par le médecin et chimiste anglais William Hyde Wollaston. Le nom, donné par Wollaston lui-même l'année suivant sa découverte, dérive de l'astéroïde Pallas découvert le par l'astronome allemand Heinrich W.

Couplage de Sonogashira

Le couplage de Sonogashira est une réaction de couplage direct entre un halogénure d'aryle et un alcyne terminal, catalysée par un complexe de palladium et un sel de cuivre(I) en tant que co-catalyseur. Cette réaction a été publiée par Kenkichi Sonogashira et Nobue Hagihara en 1975.
