Staging the Domestic Architecture, just like the cinema, brings to life everyday life, it produces a movement, a space and a time to live. 115 master students in architecture of the EPFL in Lausanne created during the Covid virus lock down videos based on a selection of domestic sequences visible in movies and television series. They assembled the fragments in a different order to reveal a new spatial coherence between the domestic elements. Parallel to the editing work, the appositions of the sequences are translated in a spatial typology of the video assembled spaces in form of a plan, section and axonometry. The collection of the 13 short videos "Scaena in Domo“, made by the students and visible on Vimeo, accompanies this reader showing the surprising typologies. The series of "Staging the Domestic" will continue over three other issues focussing on the Meal, the Sleep and Bathing in collaboration with teaching professors in architecture of the EPFL completed with practicing and theoretical protagonists from outside.
