Les activités de la vie quotidienne ou AVQ, activités journalières, ou encore activités élémentaires (en anglais, activities of daily living ou ADL) représentent, dans le milieu de la santé, les activités nécessaires pour prendre soin de son propre corps. Ces activités sont nécessaires à la survie, au bien-être et à la participation sociale. Les activités de base de la vie quotidienne comportent par exemple : se nourrir, se laver, aller aux toilettes (contrôle du rectum et de la vessie), s'habiller, prendre soin de son apparence.

Contrôle moteur

En neurosciences, le contrôle moteur est la capacité de faire des ajustements posturaux dynamiques et de diriger le corps et les membres dans le but de faire un mouvement déterminé. Le mouvement volontaire est initié par le cortex moteur primaire et le cortex prémoteur. Le signal est ensuite transmis aux circuits du tronc cérébral et de la moelle épinière qui activent les muscles squelettiques qui, en se contractant, produisent un mouvement. Le mouvement produit renvoie des informations proprioceptives au système nerveux central (SNC).

Assisted living

An assisted living residence or assisted living facility (ALF) is a housing facility for people with disabilities or for adults who cannot or who choose not to live independently. The term is popular in the United States, but the setting is similar to a retirement home, in the sense that facilities provide a group living environment and typically cater to an older adult population. There is also Caribbean assisted living, which offers a similar service in a resort-like environment (somewhat like assisted vacationing).
