The present invention relates to a system (1) for combined transcranial focused ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, comprising: a plurality of dielectric resonator antennas (2), each dielectric resonator antenna (2) comprising a dielectric medium (20) and configured to be arranged on an animal or human head (3), a plurality of RF feed assemblies (4), each RF feed assembly arranged in proximity to an associated dielectric resonator antenna (2) of said plurality of dielectric resonator antennas and configured to provide an electromagnetic field to excite its associated dielectric resonator antenna (2) to transmit an RF signal into the head for MRI, and a plurality of ultrasound transducers (5), each ultrasound transducer (5) being arranged on an associated dielectric resonator antenna (2) of said plurality of dielectric resonator antennas and configured to transmit ultrasound signals into the head (3), and wherein the respective ultrasound transducer (5) is configured to couple the respective ultrasound signal into the head (3) via the dielectric medium (20) of its associated dielectric resonator antenna (2).
