Résumé

A multimodal haptic device operating as a closed-loop system, the device including a pipeline configured to allow a closed-loop flow of a fluid medium, a manifold operatively connected to the pipeline, the manifold having a pump and a valve to control and regulate a flow of the fluid medium along the pipeline, and a display unit operatively connected to the pipeline, the display unit having a tactile display and a valve operatively connected to the tactile display for regulating an efflux of the fluid medium from the tactile display into the pipeline.

Closed-loop controller

A closed-loop controller or feedback controller is a control loop which incorporates feedback, in contrast to an open-loop controller or non-feedback controller. A closed-loop controller uses feedback to control states or outputs of a dynamical system. Its name comes from the information path in the system: process inputs (e.g., voltage applied to an electric motor) have an effect on the process outputs (e.g., speed or torque of the motor), which is measured with sensors and processed by the controller; the result (the control signal) is "fed back" as input to the process, closing the loop.

Variété (géométrie)

En mathématiques, et plus particulièrement en géométrie, la notion de variété peut être appréhendée intuitivement comme la généralisation de la classification qui établit qu'une courbe est une variété de dimension 1 et une surface est une variété de dimension 2. Une variété de dimension n, où n désigne un entier naturel, est un espace topologique localement euclidien, c'est-à-dire dans lequel tout point appartient à une région qui s'apparente à un tel espace.

Dispositif haptique

Un dispositif haptique (du grec: ἁπτικός haptikós – tactile) est un système tactilo-kinesthésique physique ou mécanique, éventuellement robotique qui peut notamment créer une communication entre un humain et une partie de son environnement, le cas échéant entre un opérateur et un environnement virtuel. Il permet aux utilisateurs de concevoir, modeler et manipuler des objets dans un environnement virtuel avec un certain ressenti tactile (toucher) et la perception kinesthésique (retour de force, qui sont de plus en plus souvent utilisés comme retours sensoriels dans les systèmes de Réalité Virtuelle).
